this is a very complex job - I am impressed with your variety of strokes and textures. In a design context just make sure the textures don’t over power the crab. The mixture of flat image with pen marks works well in reference to the textured background but I still think you need more emphasis on the shadows and shading – which will push the crab forward OR put it on top of the sand. By adding a bit more shade variety you will also get a sense of volume.
David Bug crab 1. Your original sketches were great and I feel your actual illustrations are not what you intended but in the process you have started to find you own illustration style. The first illustration was the best. I really like the way you did the solid shape and texture. You need to really look at your use of contrast to allow the different coours to have their effects. The orange works in contrast. 2. this was a good beginning but I feel you did not spend enough time on it Your text works best on the first PC because it does not distract from the image – but still too big and the type face is more connected to the design. 3. Not enough time spent on it. Look at the more minimal designs from the 50’s not the deco style – more correlation with your design
